ASPCA: Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month
October is Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month. I'm guessing those of the feline persuasion have their own month, but "Imagine a World Where Every Dog Counts!" just grabs me. I adopted a shelter dog, incidentally also the world's most beautiful (and smartest, and, well, maybe not sweetest, but we get along) dog, nine years ago. The ASPCA also has a store (of course, I'm such a sucker for the book of shelter dog photos) and places to make donations, too, if you aren't ready to make a commitment to a long term doggy relationship (although, you really should, you NEED a dog, I know you do).
