My Own Quilt Progress

While I was off, I managed to make some blocks...gasp! I surprised myself with all that I accomplished. I suspect that it has something to do with never turning on the television to be entranced by reality shows and never opening a textbook. I traveled the world (OK, so it was basically up and down I-30 in central Arkansas, but still, it felt like the world as I was driving, driving, driving) and read about a zillion books with no redeeming qualities and spent every night in White Hall watching Little League baseball and cleaned up my house a very little and took care of some business and blogged and then...I managed to sew! Here's what I managed so far on the Log Cabin Diamond Star wall hanging that I'm working on. It's paper-pieced using one of Cindi Edgerton's little patterns. I like it so far. Now I have to decide what colors I'll do the outer diamonds in...lights or darks? Since I'm basically a dark person, I'm thinking dark diamonds now. The fabric folded up in the picture is what I had picked out for borders...now I'm not so sure. Since it will be at least 2, maybe 3 YEARS until I move to the next part (assuming I quilt as much as I normally do), I have plenty time to decide!

Tell me what you think....

Great job on the quilt! I vote for the arrangement in photo #1. I like the dark points. The border fabric may be a little brighter blue than most of the blues in the blocks or it could be the way the light is hitting it.

So...if I go with the dark points (my first choice, too), how do I make the other 16 diamonds that go around the outside? Light blues? Medium blues? Cream/tans? Or a different color altogether? Sort of toying with the idea of going with reds (like the centers of the blocks in the picture).
