Don't you wish your knitting needles were cute like this?

In preparation for the grand party at the Mall of America on President's Day weekend, also known as the 2008 Knit Out & Crochet too event, Mary's been working on her demo pieces. Her assignment is to demo making clay needle toppers, a craze embraced locally by Mundane Jane. I have the needles to prove it. Mary did some experimenting to try different kinds of needles (bamboo, metal, plastic) and got creative with the toppers. Aren't they great? Imagine watching those sock monkey needles fly if you're a quick knitter! If you knit like I do, imagine them in slo-mo. If you're planning to be in the neighborhood of Minneapolis on February 16 or 17, stop by and we'll tell you more about making your own!

Flying sock monkey needles? Is that some sort of knitters' version of the Wizard of Oz?
