Say you had some fabric like this...

So, say you made a special trip to City Quilter in order to find this New York fabric (and on the SUBWAY no less).

I don't really have trouble with souvenir fabric that never grows up  to be anything else, but I think I'd like to make something this time. 30-minute-lunchtime crafting worked with the mitt (and I know I have to finish the other, so many people are waiting and watching...) so maybe it would work with a small fabric project.

At this point, I'm at tote. I've made many using my favorite Pat Sloan pattern and could finally make the small tote I've wanted to hold a notebook (the old school kind that you actually write in, you know, with paper and stuff) and my netbook (aka the baby laptop). I'd be happy with that. When I consider my closet full of totes, I wonder if anybody has a better idea...ideas?

Make a bunch of cute pillows - mix and match the fabric, centers one piece borders another. You might have to keep them put up until the doggy gets all trained but you can the fabric everyday when you can finally put them down. At Christmas I make little pillows to put in with the other decorations so with the scraps you can make 4 to 5" pillows. Have fun with it all!!

How about book covers, in case you want to indulge in a good old paperback. Or a Bible jacket/tote, if you want to go the other way. Do you need to prettify all the materials you picked up at the big conference? Maybe cover a notebook or one of those magazine holder things with your NY fabrics and tuck all those handouts inside. what about mounting some on those canvas stretchers found at Michaels or Hobby Lobby... They would look cool over your desk or couch or down a hall...
