So I heard this on the radio last week: 1 in 4 Americans has a tattoo. I wasn't sure I believed it so I turned to the infinite source of all knowledge (Google) to track it down in print. And I found this at http://www.vanishingtattoo.com/tattoo_facts.htm.
A 2006 a study done by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that 24% of Americans between 18 and 50 are tattooed; that's almost one in four. And the survey showed that about 36% of Americans age 18 to 29 have at least one tattoo!
I know a lot of people between 18 and 50. In fact, I am one of those people. And I do not have a tattoo. If they ever figure out a painless method, I'll think about it. Seriously. I'm pretty sure I missed my chance in college.
I feel like I ought to do a survey of all the people I know from 18 to 50. Just because I'm curious.
I think the hardest part (other than the needles and blood and pain and stuff like that) would be deciding what you could live with for the rest of your life. I've watched enough Miami Ink (must-see t.v. with all the stories and Ami) to know not to ask for something like a rose or a fairy. The guys don't seem to like doing those much. Wonder what they'd think of "Born to Quilt" or maybe "Knit Until Death" and a nice ball of yarn? I mean, how many sleeves can you do of prowling tigers or dragons before you want to shake it up a little with some textiles?

I'm 52 and have 1 tattoo that I got waay waay back when I was 21. It's just a small butterfly on the top of my thigh. Even with that it still surprises me the amount of people that have tattoos.
I'm sooooooo with you!! I don't know WHAT I could live with for my whole life.. I can't live 6 weeks with my hair color or my purse!!! A lifetime is wayyyyyyy too long.. I don't think I like ANYTHING that much.. hehe!!
